At Mousetrap Computing we like to focus on providing computer support to home users and small businesses.

Home users can encompass casual computer users or those people performing work from home. We have found that many home users want computer support that is personal and affordable; Mousetrap Computing is both of these. Because our rates are affordable we can also assist small businesses who don't have a budget to enable them to have a dedicated IT department.

If we can't fix the problem, we don't charge. We will also point you in the right direction if the matter needs to be referred to a specialist third party.

We can come and visit you at your home or office. It does not matter if you only have a limited amount of computer knowledge as we treat all our customers equally. We discuss issues at your level of knowledge and leave you with an understanding of the resolutions we implement.

Computer repairs and upgrades

We can supply new computers or upgrade existing components. We can provide advice on what is most suitable for your needs.

Virus and spyware removal

The two main areas we address, relating to viruses and spyware, are prevention and cure. We can help you install anti-virus and spyware detection and removal software to assist in keeping your system clean. Viruses often hit the news headlines but not so well known by many people at this time is spyware. Spyware is tracking software that hides itself on your computer. Often developed by marketing focused programmers it is used to track your movements on the Internet and subsequently bombard you with unwanted pop-up ads and junk email. Spyware often hides itself in many forms on your computer and if a lot of it exists in your system, you will find your computer becoming increasingly slower and showing signs of erratic behaviour. At worst it can prevent your computer from starting. We can also help you with the removal of any existing viruses and spyware.

Internet connections

You may sign up for Internet access but haven't had any success in connecting. Some of our customers have been frustrated by the lack of service from their Internet Service Providers and are tired of waiting on hold in long support queues. We can help you get past the teething problems of establishing connections. You may have also seen a broadband package where you need to perform the installation processes yourself, we can also help you in that area.

Website creation and hosting

If you are running a small business, the thought of having a website may have crossed your mind. So what has been holding you back? Probably not knowing where to start or dreading the thought of how much it is going to cost. The good news is you can have a website that is functional and looks professional without costing you a small fortune. Mousetrap can work with you through the steps of obtaining a domain name (e.g. mousetrap.net.au), designing the website and hosting the website. Yes there are dedicated web design companies in the market and they employ very talented specialists who can implement full bells and whistles on your website; they will however charge accordingly and this may well be in excess of your budget. We can also provide web services not only for businesses but also for organisations, clubs and personal users.

Print photos to digital media

Many households have accumulated years of photo albums containing treasured memories. You may want to consider moving these prints into a digital format i.e. transferring the images to CD. Having your photos on CD provides a number of advantages. These include saving space (no more piles or bookshelves of photo albums to contend with), the images will not fade, the images can be reprinted time and time again (and can be used with other software programs to make slideshows, calenders, greeting cards etc), the images can be categorised and searched on for convenience, photos on CD are more easily transported and once made, can also be readily and easily replicated.
